What's the deal with inspections?
According to NFPA, 13.2: "annual inspection of chimneys, fireplaces, and vents shall be inspected at least once a year in accordance with the requirments of Section 14.3 (exception type B and type BW gas venting.)"
There are 3 levels of inspections:
level 1 inspection (basic annual inspection to readily accessible areas)
level 2 inspection (Video inspection, access to attic areas if possible)
level 3 inspection (Access to concealed areas removal of walls if necessary)

How often should a chimney be cleaned?
It depends... how often do you use your chimney? What kind of wood do you use when burning? What are your draft conditions like? Although your chimney needs to be inspected yearly, it may only need a cleaning every couple years. Give us a call and for no charge to you we can come and take a look. We let you know the state of your chimney so you can make an informed decision on if you want your chimney cleaned now or later.

When I have a fire upstairs, I get smoke downstairs?
We can help with that! Just give us a call, that is typically a common crossover smoke. An item such as a Chim-a-lator damper cap should fix the problem. We can be out to check for additional cracked tiles, missing mortar joints or anything else that may be a problem as well for you. For a small additional fee we can also add a video inspection. This will let you and our experts see a complete view of your chimney, to ensure all and any problems are made viewable. Doing a full video inspection now will ensure no additional problems later.

There's a strong odor coming from the fireplace?
Not a problem! Just give us a call, this is usually caused from creosote buildup in the chimney. A standard cleaning will fix the problem in most cases. If its been a while since your last cleaning, the chimney may need to be cleaned with chemicals. At the time of the cleaning we would be happy to add an additional video inspection on top or our (performed at the time of cleaning) basic inspection. This will ensure you know your chimney is in tip-top shape!
